... Red flag warning remains in effect until 9 PM CDT this evening
for very hot... very dry and windy conditions for extreme
southwest Oklahoma and western North Texas.

* Wind... southwest 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Humidity... 5 to 15 percent.

* Temperature... 96 to 106 degrees.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Fires may start easily and spread rapidly. Report smoke or fire
to your local Fire Department.

... Record warmest maximum temperature broken at Wichita Falls...

The record warmest maximum temperature for may 18 at Wichita Falls
was 98 degrees... which was set back in 1967. Yesterday at Sheppard
Air Force base... the high temperature was 101 degrees... which had
broken the record for that date.

Temperature records for Wichita Falls date back to 1923.
