A cold front will team up with warm, humid air as it tracks eastward, setting the stage for intense storms to spread from the Plains on Tuesday to the East Coast by Thursday.

A cosmic particle detector flying high over Antarctica picked up a series of strange radio signals that appeared to be coming from below the ice - something current particle physics says shouldn’t be possible. The mysterious pulses, detected by the ANITA experiment and unconfirmed by other observatories, have scientists puzzled and wondering if this could be the first glimpse of dark matter or a completely new type of particle.

Severe weather struck Minnesota on Monday, with more than a dozen reported tornadoes in the state. The storms also brought strong wind, intense rain and hail larger than baseballs to the region.
